
David Fielding is an independent choreographer and former dancer with Birmingham Royal Ballet and National Ballet of Portugal. Trained at the Royal Ballet School, David began to choreograph at the age of 11. Sir Kenneth MacMillan awarded him first prize in the inaugural Kenneth MacMillan Choreographic Competition in 1990 and he went on to win prizes at the Ursula Moreton Choreographic Competition in 1991 and 1993. His choreographic credits are extensive including works for the National Ballet of Portugal, Portuguese Contemporary Dance Company, and ROH2, amongst others. In 2001, he was invited by Peter Martins to participate in the New York Choreographic Institute. In 2005/06 he created the full-length narrative works The Canterville Ghost and The Scarlet Pimpernel for the London Children’s Ballet and coordinated and choreographed for the Royal Opera House’s Chance to Dance project. David sadly died in 2008 before his Rayne Fellowship was complete.
