Merseyside Dance Initiative are excited to announce two nights of exceptional new contemporary dance as part of their festival Topsy Turvy on Sat 24 and Sun 25 March at The Capstone Theatre, Liverpool.
Following last year’s successful festival which saw North West artists taking over CUC Liverpool for a weekend of radical performances, this year MDI will be further showcasing the talents in our region.
Saturday evening will see performances from new companies dt.Elipsis and The Mustashios as well as brand new pieces from Jo Ashbridge and Maxine Brown.
Sunday evening sees the return of Taciturn with their new piece ‘Worst Case Scenario’ as well as Kate Jackson’s Solo performance. Edge 4WD will be performing a piece choreographed by Gary Clarke and there will also be 5 very special performances created during Gary’s recent weeklong residency ‘5 dances in 5 days’
Rachel Rogers, Project Development Manager at MDI, who organised the event, said:
'We have some really exciting performances coming up at this year's Topsy Turvy. MDI are thrilled to be presenting this jam-packed performance platform for a second year running. The event features more than 20 artists from the North West and beyond performing 9 brand new pieces, 2 Liverpool premiers and the return of a favorite. The programme also includes 6 new woks from renowned choreographer Gary Clarke. Subject matter ranges from traditional Caribbean dance to 21st century pop culture, a night on the town and a worst-case scenario! Come and join us, see something special and support these fantastic dance artists!'
