Places now available for advanced Pilates teacher training courseTrinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance has launched its 2012 Pilates Teacher Training Programme, and just six places on this intensive and in demand course are now available.
Accredited by the Pilates Foundation UK™, the Trinity Laban course is the only one of its kind in the UK, specialising in dance performance enhancement and dance injury rehabilitation using the Pilates Method.
The 18 month long course offers a minimum of 1,200 hours through an extensive programme of workshops ranging from ball and small equipment repertoire, use of breath, mindfulness and working with remedial conditions, to postural assessment, red flags and screening. Coursework and teaching covers the use of Pilates with different populations such as the elderly, post and antenatal clients, as well as those with conditions such as osteoporosis, hypermobility and scoliosis.
Course leader, Jessica Moolenaar, who has been training people for over ten years, says: “Our training will suit people who want to become teachers and particularly wish to extend their understanding of specialist topics such as somatic patterning, anatomy, physiology and fascial plasticity: There are also specialist lectures on body reading skills, listening skills and the person-centred therapeutic relationship. These are exclusive to the Trinity Laban course, and reflect a holistic, somatic and mindful approach to the Pilates Method.
'All of the teachers certified through our course have found a full time career and are now considered to be among the best in the field.'
The course is delivered from Laban Pilates, one of the largest studios in the UK, in Trinity Laban’s Faculty of Dance in Deptford. Students have unlimited access to the studio and are able to work with dancers and performing artists on a daily basis to maximise their developing specialism. Students also have access to one of the largest movement/dance libraries in the UK. Trinity Laban has an internationally renowned reputation for excellence in Dance Science and works in close collaboration with Laban Health – a complementary health clinic including both physiotherapists and complementary health therapists who have accumulated vast expertise working with dancers and musicians.
